Meagan M.
Autism Family Network Board Member · Education Background
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2007 from the University of Nebraska. I worked for Lincoln Public Schools in different capacities — as a para, substitute teacher, and gifted facilitator — before choosing to stay home and raise my growing family in 2011.
In 2021, my 3-year-old son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I began attending events through our local autism non-profit organization in hopes of finding community for my son and myself. I fell in love with supporting, advocating, and empowering my son and individuals with disabilities. I joined the Autism Family Network as a board member in 2022. I am committed to serving individuals and families affected by disabilities.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my four sons and husband. As a family, we enjoy movie nights, watching football, and keeping busy with all our kids' activities — cross country, football, basketball, track, swimming, and baseball — all the sports! On an individual level, I love reading, taking walks, spending time with my parents and siblings, and trying every seasonal coffee flavor a shop has to offer.

Doane University · Disability Advocate
I am a 21-year-old college student at Doane University studying history. I am an active leader on campus as part of various clubs and organizations. My younger brother Elijah was diagnosed with autism when he was young, and since then my family has been involved in many different autism advocacy and support groups across the state — even leading our own support group called Three's Pieces in Fairbury, Nebraska.
I currently live in Crete, Nebraska where I enjoy spending time with my friends, volunteering in the community, and performing in the Doane Concert Band playing piano and clarinet. Being part of the Bee Me team feels like a natural extension of everything my family has worked toward — creating spaces where every person, regardless of ability, can feel welcomed and celebrated.

Licensed OTR/L · NBCOT Certified · 17 Years Experience
For 17 years I have proudly served as an occupational therapist in Lincoln, NE and surrounding communities to the south. My experiences have put me on the path to serving the community in a different way — and fulfilling my dream. Growing up working for my business-minded parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, my desire to someday start a business to support multiple areas of need in the community has always been strong.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in Health Promotion from Brookings, SD in 2005. My experiences ranged from supporting programming in skilled nursing homes and dementia care units to creating health and wellness programs for all ages. I completed my Master's degree in Occupational Therapy in 2007 at Washington University in St. Louis and started my career at Bryan Health in Lincoln, NE — working on an acute inpatient adult rehabilitation unit, becoming lead therapist for 5 years, and serving as rehab coordinator for 2 more.
A chance to follow my dream of working with kids came along when I accepted a position as school occupational therapist for Educational Service Unit #5. I worked with ESU #5 for nine years, ending in July 2022. Since 2022, I also worked for Norris Public Schools as their OT and became an outpatient pediatric OT at Communication Works — meeting incredible new clients and professionals who helped shape this gym.
Outside of my career, I am a mom to two beautiful and kind-hearted girls, Penelope and Elizabeth, a wife to my wonderful husband Jacob who supports my huge vision, and a dog mom of two rat terriers. Travel, family, animals, dance, taekwondo, piano, band, and now a new business keeps our family wonderfully busy. We are all looking forward to meeting you!
